PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The international Irish dance phenomenon Riverdance is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a brand new tour, and it's making a stop here in Philadelphia.
We got a sneak peek at the brand new show coming to the Miller Theater next week.
"Riverdance was the first ever Irish dance show," says dancer Kieran Bryant. "It changed the game for Irish dancing, essentially."
Some of the dancers on this anniversary tour weren't even born when Riverdance was formed in 1994.
Bryant is one of them.
"Riverdance is the elite of the elite in terms of Irish dancing, really," he says. "When people come and see that, they're always talking about the amazing technicality and the footwork and the fast feet. It's the fact that we can do it in unison."
Bryant says it's not very common to hear of an Australian Irish dancer, which makes this fun fact even more interesting.
"My brother's actually in the show as one of the principal dancers. I was kind of born into it and fell in love with it. I've been on the road with Riverdance for nine years now. I've been loving it," said Bryant.
This new tour marks the first time in five years that Riverdance has been on stage here in Philadelphia.
"I like to remind people that it's not just an Irish dance show," he says. "As much as you hear about the 30-piece Irish dancers, we also have an amazing four piece band. We have a Dervish folk ensemble, we have two American tap dancers and a flamenco dancer. So it really has something for everybody."
"Riverdance 30 - The New Generation" is at the Miller Theater April 18 through April 20.
