Islanders select Matthew Schaefer No. 1 in 2025 NHL draft
The Islanders selected gifted defenseman Matthew Schaefer, 17, with the No. 1 pick in the NHL draft Friday night. Center Michael Misa went second to the Sharks, and the Blackhawks took Swedish forward Anton Frondell third.
