The prisoner was on the loose for about two hours before he was taken into custody.
MEDIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- A prisoner who escaped custody at the Delaware County Courthouse in Media, Pa. on Thursday morning is back in custody.
Taqwa Wilson, 22, escaped around 8:30 a.m.
Sources tell Action News that Wilson bolted after he was transported from George Hill Correctional Facility. He was wearing restraints but he was able to break free of them.
When the transport vehicle pulled up to the courthouse, he fled. The restraints were recovered during the search.
Wilson was on the loose for about two hours before he was caught.
Action News spoke to a witness who happened to be working just a few feet away from the capture.
"I heard someone jump over the fence and all the sudden there were 15 to 20 cops right there, and all shouting get on the ground," said the witness. "Ten seconds it was over."
Court records show Wilson was supposed to have a jury trial this week on charges from 2023 out of Tinicum Township for fleeing and eluding police, receiving stolen property and driving offenses.
Officials today said the escape is under investigation and would not release details of how he was able to flee, but he will face charges.
Court went on as normal Thursday with no interruptions. Officials also continued prisoner transport as normal.
