A tourist's video of a python on the Ben Franklin Parkway is making the rounds on social media.
Tourist Nini Adanaia recorded a video in late March.
While they kept a distance, a wedding party posed for pictures about 10 feet or so from the snake.
Adanaia later posted on TikTok that "Philly is not for beginners," calling Philadelphia the "wildest city ever."
Action News tracked down the owner of the snake, James Hatchell, who told us that he was present and keeping an eye on the snake while the tourist was filming.
Hatchell said he and his cousin had two snakes out that March afternoon named Starlet and Sindel.
The one seen is Starlet, a Burmese python.
The TikTok video, which is making its rounds, seemed to be filmed near Sister Cities Park.
In the video you see the yellow snake slither slowly on the sidewalk and, at one point, climbs up near an electrical box.
Malcolm McCreary, the general manager at Jay's Exotic Reptiles and Plants in South Philadelphia, said the snake didn't seem to be distressed.
"The snake's body language is so relaxed. It's clearly used to socializing with people," said McCreary. "Usually when a snake gets out it's trying to cram itself somewhere to hide that's warm. It's just walking down the street."
