In Ocean City, eight-year-old Lundin Been has been living the sweet life, "Going on the rides and having candy," she said.
"We've been down since Friday. Thank God the weather is so beautiful," said her dad, Damar.
It was a beautiful weekend with a little bit of wind, but that meant great conditions for flying kites.
"We had some west winds, which kind of make the water a bit chilly, but that didn't stop beachgoers from enjoying their Memorial Day weekend," said Ocean City Beach Patrol Lt. Scott Horner.
Families lined the sand on this Memorial Day, lounging in the sun and playing games. Lifeguards say they're now out every day on 10 beaches throughout the island.
"We have signs recommending that everybody swims on a protected beach," said Horner.
From Ocean City to Margate, a brave few took a dip in the chilly water under Lucy's watchful eye.
"Probably swimming because we haven't been able to go in the pool for a while," said nine-year-old Sofia Aleaga from Upper Dublin.
Others in Ocean City stayed on the boardwalk enjoying ice cream, pizza, and fudge.
"Ocean City is the greatest family resort. We love it. We have families who come here all year long and in the summer we just see such an influx," said Meryl van Gelov from Shivers Salt Water Taffy and Fudge.
Families enjoyed the unofficial start of summer down the shore while recognizing the true meaning of the holiday.
"This is a time for remembrance, for those who gave their lives for us, so very grateful," said Nicole Saenz from Hulmeville.
