PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Barstool Sports Founder, Dave Portnoy, is speaking out after learning of an antisemitic message displayed at his Philadelphia bar.

The hateful message has led to a Temple University student's suspension.

"I've been shaking," said Portnoy.

When Portnoy first saw the antisemitic sign that was ordered with bottle service at his Center City bar, Barstool Sansom Street, he was outraged. Portnoy addressed the situation in what he called an "emergency press conference" on social media.

"I'm trying to keep it together, but I'm on it," said Portnoy.

Rabbi David Kushner, who is a chaplain with the Philadelphia police department, says Portnoy contacted him.

"He did reach out and he is distraught," said Kushner.

Posts online identified the offenders as Temple students. Temple's president said the university placed one student found to be involved on interim suspension.

In a statement, John Fry said the incident doesn't represent the Temple community or values.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia says there's no place for this kind of speech.

"It was shocking. We spend our days, my colleagues and I, in the Jewish community relations counsel working fighting against antisemitism," said Robin Schatz, Director of Government Affairs.

Portnoy contacted the patrons involved and decided this should be a teaching moment.

"We're going to send these kids to Auschwitz and they're going to do a tour of the concentration camps in Germany, and hopefully learn something and hopefully they think twice, and more importantly other people see it's not like words you're throwing around. To me that's a fair outcome of this event," said Portnoy.

As for the servers who complied and made the requested sign, Portnoy says they are now fired.

Philadelphia police say they are currently looking into the matter. The ADL says they are also investigating.

Barstool Sansom St. posted a statement on social media that said in part:

"We take all forms of discrimination incredibly seriously and are particularly upset by the actions taken against our Jewish patrons, colleagues, partners and friends... This unfortunate incident is the opposite of what we stand for, and we will be doubling down on efforts to prevent such actions in the future."
