Sharifa Jackson joined the Action News team in May 2022. While Sharifa is originally from Virginia and spent her formative years in Georgia, she's no stranger to Philadelphia. She spent summers here with her grandparents. She likes to tell people she is related to all of North Philly!

Sharifa came to Philadelphia from Kansas City, Missouri where she reported and anchored. While in the Midwest, she covered a wide variety of stories, including high profile court cases, the 2020 election and the Chiefs Super Bowl parade. She's most proud of her work investigating claims of racial bias and discrimination at the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The series of stories led to management changes, new diversity and inclusion protocols, a nationwide audit and resulted in a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award.

Sharifa is a hyperlocal community driven reporter. Her passion is investigations that make a difference.

Throughout her journalism career, Sharifa has made stops in Columbus, Georgia and Dothan, Alabama. She started as a production assistant and learned all aspects of news before making the switch to on-air.

Sharifa is a graduate of Columbus State University where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
