LANGHORNE, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police in Bucks County are investigating a shooting and stabbing incident that happened outside the Oxford Valley Mall on Thursday evening.

According to Middletown Township police, a man was shot in the elbow and stabbed in the arm at a SEPTA bus stop outside the JCPenney around 5 p.m. Thursday.

"The man who was shot and stabbed ran a pretty circuitous route after that and made his way inside the mall," said Chief Joe Bartorilla.

Police said the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was listed in stable but critical condition. The suspect ran from the area, and police say the search is ongoing.

"What we believe is that it was a targeted shooting. It may even be domestic-related at this point. So we believe the shooter specifically targeted this male," Chief Bartorilla said.

People inside the mall told Action News that when the incident first happened, businesses went into lockdown mode. Outside the mall, neighboring businesses, including Sesame Place, were also locked down.

"It is terrifying because anytime you hear shooting and mall, it evokes panic in almost everybody who hears it," said Chief Bartorilla.

Action News spoke with Wayne Rogers, an employee at Dynasty Sports & Framing, who was inside the mall at the time of the incident. Rogers said his coworker ran into the victim while he was taking out the trash.

"He told me he heard a pop or two, and he thought it was something in the trash compactor," Rogers explained. "And then a couple of minutes later, the victim kind of was walking through the loading area, and that's when he said they shot me."

Once his coworker got back inside, they locked down their store.

"You saw people reacting and running up and down the halls and into stores," Rogers said.

He told Action News that officers quickly responded to the scene, searching the entire mall before evacuating everyone.

"I'm a veteran. I was in Iraq. So for me, it was like, OK, this is what we need to do, get everybody safe, take care of everybody and just listen to the authorities."
