PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a triple shooting in South Philadelphia that left one person dead and two others wounded Thursday night.
The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. inside a home on the 700 block of Tree Street.
According to Inspector D.F. Pace, a 38-year-old man was found shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second person, identified as a 36-year-old, is listed as stable at an area hospital after being shot in the back.
Pace said a 55-year-old man was also likely shot inside the home. The man reportedly ran down the block after being shot, where he was found by emergency responders. He is listed in critical condition and said to be "fighting for his life," Pace noted.
Police say the man who died and the 55-year-old who remains hospitalized may be the shooters in this incident.
"We know that there are at least about six casings so far, which we believe came from two different guns, two different shooters. We believe the decedent and the person who is currently in critical condition were two of the shooters," said Pace.
The involvement of the 36-year-old is still under investigation.
Police have not said what may have led to the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
